Dear Customer,
Over the past six months, the continuing global grain shortage has led to unprecedented prices for feed grains. As feed makes up more than 60% of the cost of producing chicken meat, the increases in cost of feed translate to increases in chicken prices.
As a result, a price increase for chicken meat has now unfortunately become inevitable, and on Monday 19 November, the Australian chicken meat industry experienced a 20% increase in prices.
Lenard’s suppliers also delivered a 20% increase, and Lenard’s will be absorbing as much of this increase as possible, only raising prices by the minimum amount necessary. We are committed to delivering value to our loyal customers through our range of fresh and innovative meal solutions.
Even following this increase, chicken meat remains very affordable. The price of chicken, when adjusted for inflation, has remained constant for over a decade, while other meats have increased up to 33% based on Australian Bureau of Statistics data. In fact, due to increased efficiency of breeding and nutrition, chicken meat is now selling for about half as much as it did in 1970.
Lenard’s has been providing innovative meal solutions for your family every day for 20 years. Lenard’s delicious range of fresh and value added products, packaged easyliving range are all prepared fresh in store and still deliver real value to families across Australia every day.
Yours Sincerely
Bruce Myers
