Next to each recipe are either 1, 2 or 3 Lenny's which tells you how much help you need to cook the recipe.
1 Lenny - I can do this myself: these recipes are the easiest and for beginner chefs.
2 Lenny's - I need a little help: you might need a bit of help from an adult, or even your older brother or sister.
3 Lenny's - I need lots of help: you will need to get an adult to help you.
MEASURING TIPS
Here are some simple tips to help you measure ingredients correctly:
- When measuring liquid, use a cup or jug with measurements on the side
- When reading the measurement, place the cup on a bench and measure it at eye level
- When measuring a spoonful or cup, after filling the spoon or cup use a butter knife to smooth off the surface so that the measurement is correct
- When measuring sticky liquids warm the spoon first and then the sticky liquid will slide off easily
KITCHEN RULES
Make sure you follow these kitchen rules to make cooking easier:
1. Always ask for an adults permission first
2. Read the recipe first, if you do not understand anything then ask an adult
3. Wash your hands!
4. Wear an apron to keep your clothes clean
5. Always wear oven mits when handling hot food so you don't burn yourself
6. Have all your ingredients ready before you start cooking
7. Keep all pot handles turned away from you when using a stove so that you don't knock them
8. Make sure you clean up after you have finished cooking
9. Have fun!
